Director

Dr. Raj Gopalakrishnan is Professor and Director of the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, School of Dentistry at the University of Minnesota. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and a fellow of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. He currently serves as the President of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. Dr. Gopalakrishnan obtained his dental degree from Madras Dental College, University of Madras and completed specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and PhD in Pathobiology from The Ohio State University. He has been at the University of Minnesota since 2002 and participates in an active surgical oral pathology practice (University Oral Pathology Laboratories). He also has an active research lab investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying BMP regulators and bone remodeling. More recently, his research interests have focused on understanding mechanisms that regulate early invasive phenotype in head and neck cancer with an emphasis on Fanconi anemia patients.
