Dr. Vijay Chakkaravarthy is the newest member of the team of doctors at The Capstone Clinic. With a background in critical care medicine, he is a consultant in the speciality of General Medicine. This is a very important speciality in the practice of family medicine. Dr. Vijay is well-regarded for his competence in outpatient management and critical care including counselling of critically ill patients and their families, and estimating possible outcomes in intensive care situations.

Dr Vijay is well-versed with performing procedures such as pleural and ascitic fluid tapping, lumbar puncture, intubation, insertion of central lines, arterial line and ABG analysis. He is also efficient in handling various technological procedures including ultrasound for the chest and abdomen areas. In addition, he has a vast knowledge in various other specialities such as Cardiology, Nephrology, Neurology, Rheumatology, Diabetology, Pulmonology, Gastroenterology, and Haematology, that enable him to function as an expert doctor in general medicine.

Dr Vijay completed his MBBS from JJM Medical College in Davangere, Karnataka in 2011, and then went on to do a DNB General Medicine from Vijaya Hospital in 2015. With a special interest in critical care, he pursued an Indian Diploma in Critical Care Medicine from Apollo Main Hospital, Chennai earlier this year. Dr Vijay is also an associate consultant in critical care medicine at the Apollo main hospital, and a consultant physician in Apollo MRC Nagar and BE WELL Hospital in Chennai. He is a lifetime member of the Indian society of critical care medicine and a registered member of Indian Medical Association. Dr Vijay has given a number of presentations at international and state level conferences which include papers “Unusual case of Adrenal Insufficiency in Thalassemia minor” in IMSA international conference in Bangkok and “Dengue Fever with Mixed Infections” at state level Infectious Diseases meet respectively.
