Dr. Bharath’s 12 years of experience in gastroenterology clubbed with his many years in pursuing and completing certifications has made him one of the most renowned doctors in his field. He is currently practicing in Apollo Specialty Hospital, Chennai, where he performs a number of clinical procedures such as upper and lower GI endoscopy, endoscopic variceal ligation, endoscopic sclerotherapy, polypectomy, liver abscess drainage, oesophageal manometry, and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography. Prior to his current appointment at Apollo Specialty Hospital, he worked as a senior house officer at Burnley General Hospital in Burnley, UK.
Dr. Barath has a deep fondness for teaching. He taught internal medicine at the Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences, was an instructor in Basic Life Support Courses for healthcare professionals and taught clinical skills to the house officers at Madras Medical College.
Dr. Barath makes it a point to attend national and international courses and workshops as he firmly believes in upgrading his skills and knowledge in gastroenterology. Some notable courses that he has attended over the years include ‘Gastroenterology Young Masters Course’, ‘Workshop on Management of Hepatitis C Virus’, and Endoscopic Ultrasound and Newer Advances in Gastroenterology.
Dr. Barath has been a guest lecturer at various medical meets and conferences, both national and international.
His passion and dedication to his chosen field has enabled him to excel in clinical and interventional gastroenterology. Dr. Barath is a member of the India Society of Gastroenterology, Tamil Nadu Chapter, member of the Indian Medical Council, Member of the Royal College of Physicians, UK, and a member of DIABETES, UK.
